WateringWater the plant when the top few centimeters of soil are dry, about once every two weeks in the summer and less often in the winter. Don't let the plant sit in water, as this can cause the roots to rot. Limp or brown leaves can also indicate overwatering.
-
SunlightPlace the plant in a bright spot with indirect sunlight. Aloe vera can get sunburned if it's suddenly moved into too much light, which can cause the leaves to turn white or light brown. If you're moving an aloe vera plant outdoors for the summer, gradually expose it to brighter areas over a few days to avoid overexposure.
-
TemperatureAloe vera plants are sensitive to temperature fluctuations, so keep them away from drafty windows and doors, especially in the winter.
-
RepottingRepot the plant every two to three years when it outgrows its pot. When repotting, use a well-draining, fast-drying potting mix, such as a cactus, palm, and citrus mix. Rinse or scrub the pot before using it, and place a piece of screen or paper towel over the drainage hole to allow water to drain properly.
-
FertilizingFeed the plant every couple of months from April to September with a weak plant food.
